> Thinking of getting the TaylorMade M1 Driver ? INSIDER TIP: We actually prefer to manipulate the hosel, the shaft profile and torque for the left or right ball flight issues. We found the best performing position for most golfers is the LOW position. This side by side position of the two weights suits the low spin/high launch design the best. It creates maximum stability as it maximises the MOI of the club. If you struggle to square the head put the back weight (Red) to the high position. TIP: Make sure to move the weight to the end of the channel. The back weight actually works best, either in the LOW position or the HIGH position. This position helps with launch and also makes the ball “feel” better off the face. When this is lined up with the back (RED weight) as it keeps the head better “balanced” We discovered, the front weight works best in the centre of the track. Following testing, we’ve found this makes the sliding weight less effective at manipulating the CG location and influencing the Draw or Fade bias. The weight sits in a channel which we feel, is too close to the face of the club and is overall too heavy. They need to work together for best effect as opposed to just one or the other. The front weight (closest to the face and black coloured) we found was less effective for Draw and Fade unless you combine it with the Higher and Lower settings of the hosel. The sliding T-Shape weights are complicated. So if you rotate the hosel around to be opposite the STANDARD LOFT setting this will create more of a DRAW or CLOSED setting without compromising the loft as much as the Higher or Lower setting.Įssentially the slots opposite or directly behind STANDARD LOFT are the current loft of your driver but with a more draw/closed position. The adjustable hosel can increase the pitch on the effective loft when you Lower or Higher the setting. → Set the hosel to HIGHER to CLOSE the head to help fight that dreaded slice. → Use the LOWER setting for a more OPEN face if your miss is a more of a hook. The hosel is still the best way to open and close the head to allow for the miss left or right. 5 Ways to get the Best from the TaylorMade M1 Driver The adjustability of the M1 covers this issue and allows you to tweak the driver design to allow for the miss from the lower spin. The ball will miss the fairway further right or left, due to the much lower back spin affect. Off centre hits from the M1 Driver can create a larger amount of off-plane spin. There’s always a downside to over manipulation of spin especially when there is a reduction in back-spin as the ball can be harder to keep straight. Use this guide to adjust the driver hosel and weight settings. The TaylorMade M1 Driver can create that golden high launch/low spin ball-flight but its complicated.
